Enjoy a freshly prepared, sit-down meal aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway. We take pride in our food and our service.
Treat yourself to a memorable bistro-style meal aboard our signature excursion trains, the Alleghany Special and the Blue Ridge Flyer. Your ticket on either of these excursions includes a meal and dessert selection, plus a non-alcoholic beverage (coffee, soda, tea, and water) served in a complimentary souvenir glass.
All meals must be ordered in advance. Selections are made when making your reservation. Once you’re on board, we’ll already know your choice of main course and we will deliver it to your table so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
For those with dietary restrictions, when making your dining selection please add special concerns in the comment section. Due to the nature of our food service facilities on the train, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination with possible allergens like nuts or gluten. MAIN COURSE SELECTIONS – Winter Train
Carolina-Style Pulled-Pork BBQ Sandwich
Pulled-pork BBQ, seasoned with a homemade rub and smoked until tender and juicy. Served on a brioche bun, with fried onions and homemade sauce. Served with crunchy kale slaw.
Traditional Greek Salad – available with and without chicken
Salad topped with smoked chicken (optional), black and green olives, banana peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and feta cheese. Dressed with Greek vinaigrette. Served with pita bread on the side.
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
A deliciously fragrant soup with a hint of ginger, garnished with sour cream, topped with toasted pumpkin seeds and parsley. This soup comes with a small spinach and beet side salad along with honey cornbread.
White Chicken Chili
Hearty white chicken chili topped with a dollop of sour cream, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, chives, and parsley. Served with a side of crunchy kale slaw and honey cornbread.

We are delighted to announce new partners King Family Vineyards of Crozet and Basic City Beer Company of Waynesboro. During the ticketing process, you will be able to pre-order beer or wine for your excursion at an additional price. Passengers must be 21 and over to be able to purchase alcohol.
WINE
2021 Brut (sparkling wine) / King Family Vineyard
This lively sparkling wine is produced in the traditional method. Bright and crisp, it is full of rich green apple notes and light toast.
2022 Chardonnay (white) / King Family Vineyard
Opening with notes of hawthorn and sandalwood, this wine is the product of delicate oak aging. Rich nuttiness and fresh lemongrass character are carried through a long finish.
2022 Cabernet Franc (red) / King Family Vineyard
Aged for nine months in a combination of both concrete and French oak, this Cabernet Franc offers a smooth mouth feel. The palate is youthful and delicate, but also savory, with notes of white pepper, black tea, musk, red cherry, and violets.
2023 Crosé (rosé) / King Family Vineyard
A dry, Merlot-based rosé is fresh and crisp with notes of grapefruit, lime, watermelon, and a light grassiness. Friendly with lighter fare.
CRAFT BEER
Our Daily Pils (Pilsner) / Basic City Beer Co.
A contemporary take on the classic German pilsner. This is a Saaz hopped unfiltered Pilsner, naturally carbonated and with a crisp light biscuit. It’s an everyday, anytime beer. ABV: 4.7%
The 6th Lord (IPA) / Basic City Beer Co.
Sweeter and more aromatic than a traditional West Coast IPA, this beer brings the best of both West and East Coast traditions. It’s got a nice balanced citrus flavor with a subtle malt backbone.

Get Your Ticket To Ride
Aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway, you’ll get a front-row seat to some of Virginia’s prettiest views, including the legendary Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Depending on the excursion you choose, you’ll roar through tunnels, speed over bridges, race past scenic fields and forests, and climb over mountains.
