Santa's Scenic Railway

Yes, Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus! Our holiday train ride is merry and bright, filled with the joy of the season.

Ho, ho, ho!

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, October 29th, at 12 noon.

Santa Claus is taking over the Virginia Scenic Railway, and will be offering festive holiday train rides beginning on Saturday, November 30th through Sunday, December 22nd.  Santa’s Scenic Railway will run every day of the week except Monday.

These memorable holiday excursions are sure to delight children of all ages. The run time is expected to last about 50 minutes, which Santa thinks is just the right amount of time for younger railfans to bask in the wonder of it all.

Our passenger cars are configured for table seating. Once you begin booking your trip, you will have the option of choosing a table for two or a table for four. If you have a larger group, simply choose multiple tables in your reservation. (When multiple tables are reserved in a single booking, we will group the tables together for you.)

During the ride, all passengers will be treated to a cozy hot beverage, a sweet treat, and best of all — a special appearance from the big man himself.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” – Santa

Children and families will have an opportunity to sit and visit with St. Nick during the train ride. Parents are welcome to capture the excitement of the moment using their own cameras and/or mobile phones.

Festive attire is welcome, although please remember that it can get cold on the platform while waiting for the train, so please dress warmly.

The ticket price is $65 per person. Children two and younger may ride for free as long as the infant is seated on the lap of a ticketed adult.

Rides will depart from the Amtrak station in historic downtown Staunton. Please allow plenty of time to find parking.
